Shawn Burke is a retired television actor who, for twelve years, portrayed private detective Quentin Mars on a popular television show. Taking someof the substantial money he made, he has purchased a former church in the Berkshires of Massachusetts and renovated it into a theater where he intends to put on productions for the many New Yorkers who come to the area each summer. He plans to showcase young writers, actors, and members of the stage crew.

When the summer season comes to a successful conclusion, however, he is beseeched by his patrons to offer a Fall production. Rushing to find something appropriate, he hires Jim and Connie Wicket to put on their popular two-person show about a couple reconciling through emails. Disaster strikes when one of the Wickets’ friends, who are all staying in Shawn’s home on ghr theater campus, is murdered ona stage. Faced with a possible closing of his theater by the police, Shawn must channel his inner Quentin Mars to find a solution to this murder.
